When it comes to chiropractic, there are many things that set the Dr. Gil Center for Back, Neck, and Chronic Pain Relief apart from other Cool Springs and Franklin chiropractors. While we do use traditional techniques, we use them in a unique and more effective way. Chiropractic is not one size fits all. Each patient has their own unique situation that is different from anyone else. One patient may need spinal decompression while another may need acupuncture. That’s why it’s vitally important to have a treatment process tailor-made for your specific body and needs. This allows for optimal healing while preventing you from undergoing unnecessary and costly treatments that are ineffective for your condition. While other practitioners may give all of their patients a similar program, the Dr. Gil Center for Back, Neck, and Chronic Pain Relief will develop a unique plan of action suited just for you. Your plan of action will suit your individual needs, goals, medical condition, and physical state. This allows us to help you get healthier, quicker (while also saving you money on unnecessary solutions in the process). You are one in a million, don’t you deserve an approach that thinks that too?
IMAC Regeneration Centers uses a form of Platelet Rich Plasma known as “Pure PRP”, due to a high concentration of platelets and growth factors retrieved in the harvesting process. PRP injections are prepared from a tube of the patient’s own blood, spun in a centrifuge and the activated platelets are then injected into the patient’s damaged tissue. Torn tendons, ligaments, and muscles are just a few of the prevalent treatment areas which benefit from the healing properties of PRP. Clinical studies have shown that PRP has improved function and decreased pain to joints, muscles and connective tissue. PRP therapy has also shown great improvement in patients suffering from osteoarthritis.

What is Stem Cell Therapy?
A Mesenchymal Stem Cell is a cell that is undifferentiated. In other words, it is a" clean slate" that can take on the characteristics of many other cells in the body. A stem cell can metamorphosize into new tissue. It can become new cartilage, muscle, tendons, ligaments, and even bone. It has been shown to repair and regenerate damaged tissue!
Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy is a minimally invasive procedure. In our clinic, this involves injecting the affected area with mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord tissue, which contains literally millions of stem cells. The part of the umbilical cord that is used is the Wharton's jelly, and the product itself is called CoreCyte ™. We also use Amniocyte ™ and Amniocyteplus ™. This product is minimally manipulated human tissue allograft derived from the amniotic membrane. Amniocyteplus ™ is processed to preserve the cytokines, growth factors, and scaffolding proteins that help the healing process of damaged connective tissue. Our regenerative medicine products come from Predictive Biotech. All of their products have been evaluated by the FDA.
Since administering medical services is outside the scope of chiropractic practice, our medical staff performs all of the regenerative medicine procedures. The procedure is safe. In fact, over 100,000 stem cell procedures have been performed in the U.S. without one serious side effect. The injection procedure is not very painful and involves little to no downtime. Patients can drive home on their own and resume their daily activities within one day in most cases. The most common areas we treat are degenerative knees, shoulders, and elbows.
There are several ways stem cells can be obtained: adipose tissue (fat) from the individual being treated, Bone marrow extraction from the person being treated, or cord blood and from the Wharton's jelly surrounding the umbilical cord. We use cells from Wharton's Jelly, since it is high in the number of mesenchymal stem cells available and not limited by a person's health or age, like cells taken from one's own body. Our procedure requires one injection rather than numerous injections. With Adipose tissue or bone marrow harvested cells, there is pain and a surgical procedure associated with obtaining the cells. This is another reason we use Wharton's Jelly derived cells instead. Our treatment protocol also contains a growth factor and cytokines essential in the healing and repair process. No rejection to the cells occurs since the immune response is inactive between the donor and recipient. Testing to ensure purity and safety is conducted numerous times. All products are monitored and tested by the American Association of Tissue Banks and we adhere to their strict guidelines. It is a safe, minimally invasive procedure administered by our expertly trained medical staff under the direction of our oversight physician.

Our #1 priority is to produce the best possible outcomes for our patients. And while our patented protocol is far more complex than you will find at other regenerative medicine clinics, we do not cut corners. Everything about your Regenexx experience is designed for results.
Stem cells live in all of us and they act as the repairmen of the body. However, as we age or get injuries, we sometimes can’t get enough of these critical repair cells to the injured area. The Regenexx Procedures help solve this problem by greatly increasing your body’s own natural repair cells and promote healing. This is accomplished by harvesting cells from areas known to be rich in mesenchymal stem cells and then concentrating those cells in a lab before precisely reinjecting them into the damaged area in need of repair.
The Regenexx® Patented Same Day Stem Cell Protocol
Our Same-Day Stem Cell Protocol is called a same-day procedure because the stem cells are harvested and reinjected on the same day. However, for most patients the complete protocol is actually a series of injections that happen over the course of about a week, depending on your unique situation. These injections include a preinjection, the same-day stem cell extraction and reinjection procedure, followed by a post-injection of multiple proprietary platelets mixes a few days later. On the day of your stem cell procedure, you will first have a blood draw from a vein in your arm. This will be processed in the lab along with your stem cell sample. When you are prepared for the first step of your stem cell procedure, your doctor will thoroughly numb the back of the hip and take a small bone marrow sample through a needle. The procedure we use is called a bone marrow aspirate. This is different than a bone marrow biopsy, which can be painful. The bone marrow aspiration process is often described by patients as being comfortable. While your cells are being processed by a Regenexx Lab Technician, you will have some downtime to relax. A short period later, you will be ready for the second part of the procedure, where the doctor will reinject your stem cells and natural growth factors from your blood platelets using advanced imaging guidance into the area in need of repair (real-time fluoroscopy or musculoskeletal ultrasound, using your MRI to plan the injection). This allows the doctor to pinpoint the exact location of the injection, as well as the dispersion of the cells into the tissues. The goal is to deliver much greater numbers of stem cells to the injured area than your body can deliver on its own.
Regenexx Innovation and Why it Should Matter to You
Regenexx spends heavily on innovation and we have a Ph.D. led lab research team and a physician/bio stats led clinical research team to constantly update what we can offer. A couple of years ago we started various projects to determine if we could come up with a way of processing bone marrow that nobody had ever used. Seeking to double or even triple the number of stem cells extracted in a bone marrow aspiration, we exceeded our own expectations and increased it 500%+ over what we could do before. Using our previous procedure, which was already superior to anything else, we could extract about 3-4 times the stem cells per cc over what the average automated centrifuge could do. This is important because these little machines are used by 98% of the physicians performing bone marrow stem cell procedures. There is no real technical expertise required to use these machines. You just place the sample in the machine and push the “ON” button. Because of this and the fact that these machines are a one-size-fits-all solution to process very different bone marrow samples from very different patients, it wasn’t hard to outperform these devices. However, our research team investigated many different ways to process marrow. After discarding many, we finally discovered one that was pretty revolutionary. And while extracting more stem cells is a good thing, it doesn’t really make a difference if it doesn’t improve a patient’s procedure outcome.
We are innovative and understand the true cost of living with pain, the anguish of diminished hope and the desire for more fulfilling life. In addition to traditional pain treatments, New Life Medical Group offers innovative therapies to treat the cause of a patient’s pain or other conditions. Among these are stem cell therapy (with cells taken from the patient’s own body), regenerative medicine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
While less than a handful of clinics around the country may offer one of these treatments, Dr. Schmidt and New Life Medical Group, were the first in the region to bring all these services under one roof.
We are trying to get your body to make more collagen. You cannot simply ‘take’ collagen and have it show up where it needs to go. It is ‘digested’ by the GI tract. Nor can you ‘inject’ it and have it insert itself into the correct structures. Your body has to identify a structure as ‘in need of healing’, and cells called ‘Fibroblasts’ (the only cells capable of making collagen molecules) must make these molecules in a way that they are ‘woven into’ the correct structure. Fibroblasts are everywhere in your body. I could not take a biopsy any place in your body and not find several. But they do nothing unless they are ‘told’ to make collagen. The ‘telling’ consists of a group of chemicals, collectively called ‘growth factors’, which trigger the healing cycle. These are 40 plus chemicals which ‘run together’ and ‘act in concert’ to trigger healing.
These ‘growth factors’ live in essentially only two places in your body: your platelets and your white blood cells. If you have bleeding as a part of the injury, like a sprained ankle or an operation, the platelets are part of the clot, or thrombus, or scab that coats the surface of injured structures. These then deliver growth factors directly into the injured structures. If you do not have bleeding, the white blood cells control and modulate the degree of collagen replacement by measuring out these ‘growth factors’ whenever they sense that tissue damage has occurred. Prolotherapy, using dextrose or one of the 40 plus chemicals which has been shown through the years to ‘trigger healing’, uses the ‘WBC response/growth factor release’ mechanism. Platelet Rich Plasma utilizes both the WBC and the platelets as sources of these growth factors to trigger healing.
